Windshield interval function does not work

Have recently bought a 2005 Saab 9-3 1.9 tid
Windshield interval function does not work.
The car has rain sensor and this has been changed but it still does not work.
Someone who knows what it could be.

Interval function and rain sensor not working could be the same or two separate problems. Assuming that wiper high and low speed that both speeds work as you didn't mention otherwise we can eliminate wiper motor, relay and fuses.

If the wipers swing once when selector stalk is first set to interval position your interval problem is thumb wheel switch, wire connection or the under hood electrical center. Rain sensor replaced and still not working could be wire connection, programming or the under hood electrical center.

Go up to the first sticky in the Tech Talk section and down load the WIS for windows 10 so you have the wiring diagrams you need and use a volt ohm meter to check everything you can.

If the rain sensor is not properly attached to the windshield it will not work. The reattachment of the rain sensor can be a problem with the OEM kit. I had a windshield replaced and the first OEM attachment came loose. On reattachment the second try did not work either. The third time a non-OEM attachment worked (body shop installed) and has stayed in place for over a year. The body shop was not very complimentary of the OEM kit.

In auto position they don`t work at all. In position 1 they work continuous, position 2 the same speed as position 1 and position 3 faster.
