Loud ticking sound from engine - not sure where

Got this loud ticking sound from engine bay (1999 4cyl), but not sure how to identify. I've heard the sound could be timing guides or sleeve bearing or camshaft valves, etc. so I decided to post this video - maybe someone can identify?

The problem with posting sounds is that they are never quite the same when played as they are when recorded. Your sound could be any of the suspected as mentioned and from the small speaker in my laptop, you could also have a cracked exhaust manifold or blown exhaust manifold gasket.

there is an exhaust leak getting into the cabin - I don't notice any performance problems (pickup is strong). It does sound more like loud pops than metal on metal. I'll have to check that out. Thanks!

Check the exhaust manifold studs it’s common for them to snap off.
