    Brake Bleeder Screw size?

Brake Bleeder screw stripped. I'd love to get my hands on the "mechanic" who "fixed" this poor car last. Anyone know what size the screw/threads are on the rear bleeders? Still searching....

There is a trick to opening stuck bleeder valves and if you have a stripped bleeder you will probably need to replace the caliper. Have had to heat and shock many of these in rust country and replaced these for buuggered up nut ends, and it's a GM part that NAPA will have. Never replaced a stripped or broken one, the savings isn't worth the risk.

Aye. It's bad, not just the bleeder screw. Front looks good, rear are the screwed up set.
Second look and the screws + the housings are both damaged, evidence of it being over torqued, and those pads are not factory. The fact that the pads are not worn evenly wheel to wheel, and the rotors are very noticeably worn differently, one side having lovely grooves....hence what was SUPPOSED to be a quick 1-2 hour tinker turned into a bloody aggravating evening. $160 was not in the budget after $140 for head work on the project car, and $95 on the brakes for this beasty. At least I know she will stop properly and the family will be safe.

At least I can say I never get bored!!

Call the same yard you got the turbo from, they probably have some reasonably priced good used ones.

Turbo came from a guy in Pennsylvania....or New Jersey...some where up north. Wasn't a salvage yard. The yard I pulled other parts from only have 2 saab 9-3's, both exteriors are in HORRID shape. I'm going with new. Less stress and worry that there will be an issue. I'm almost afraid to call LKQ ever again, they wanted some ridiculous amounts for small stuff.

Give rockauto.com a try for rear calipers, new or reman they are a GM part.

Love rock auto, half the project car's parts and some of the saab's other stuff came from them. Needed asap, shipping made the brakes, calipers, and pads more expensive. It's all good, got the new ones. Now the fun part...bleeding....Yay

At least the calipers don't have to be programmed to the car.....

Ok, I am on left rear caliper #3, 1 was frozen and the bleeder stripped. #2 right rear good, #2 left rear bleeder screw a different size, and stripped out when I hit the pedal, before ever touching it with a wrench. Back to refund it, then to a different store(because there can only be 1 in the entire Baton Rouge area.) #3 - Bleeder screw also a different size, hit the pedal, bleeder screw popped out. What the hell is wrong with the left rear on these???

Nothing wrong with the design, just the way they have been handled. Stuck pistons and parking brake mechanisms are easy to fix, even the rebuilders can have trouble with bleeder screws. This is why I don't replace broken or stripped bleeder screws and prefer good used from southern yards to remans.

The first was supposedly new. The second I'm not sure about. You think the rock auto ones would be worth while, and not poorly tapped and rethreaded? At this point I'm stuck, and we kind of need a family car that runs....er...stops...
