9-3 1999 Convertible locked in Park
My SAAB is stuck in Park and won’t release via brake pedal while running. Brake lights work, Tech II shows brake light activation as well. I can of course put in a key in the slot near the shifter and drive as normal.
I've read many post about a relay under the backside of the fuse panel that you can hear when you push on the brake. I don’t hear anything when I push the brake, though I never paid attention to it before.
When anyone else here pushes on the pedal do you hear a relay?
What number is the relay or fuse?
Unfortunately Tech II doesn’t manually activate the park lock, so I’m a bit limited with that diagnostic route.
Thanks!

The sound you are hoping to hear comes from the center counsel solenoid and there is also a switch in there that only allows the solenoid to fire with brake peddle signal when the shift lever is in the park position. Either one, or both could be bad.
Seattle is a bit on the hilly side and something worth trying before tearing the center counsel apart is get some help to rock the car if you are parked on a hill while bumping the shift lever to the farthest forward park position. Sometimes park pawls stick in a worn spot and they need a bit of help to get free. If the thing is stuck half way you can't pull the car out of park, but you can pull the lever far enough out of park position to open the switch and be double stuck in park. Do give that a try before tearing the center counsel apart.

Unfortunately it won’t be that easy. I’ve parked on a flat, rocked, jack stands and everything else. I have a few other projects to knock out before digging into the Saab. Ultimately I can drive her, just wouldn’t make a good getaway car, lol.
i had a boot bag switch sticking and cleaned that up and the top works fine. I’m hoping that after sitting all winter it’s just stuck.
im starting to think the park solenoid relay is nothing more than an urban legend.

The park solenoid "relay" is more like an endangered species than it is an urban legend, clicking turn signal flasher cans are also on the same list.
