Smile Engine harness connector - problem with disconnecting

    Hello,

I've stumbled upon a rather silly problem when trying to install new vacuum lines on my 1997 Saab 9-5.
I don't know how to disconnect the connector shown in the picture. It's placed above the coolant bypass valve.

In later models there is a red clip that you just slide outwards, but such is not present here. Should I only lift the indicated black piece? I can feel some resistance when trying to lift it and I don't want to break anything.

    Thank you in advance!

    Martin

I see a nice empty square hole on the wire end of the connector so you should be able to lift the black piece and because it is old and made out of plastic, reach under the wire bundle and push the locking slide forward at the same time.

Don't forget to disconnect the battery, always a good precaution.

Thanks! Actually, all I had to do was spray some WD-40 on the old connector and leave it overnight. Came off no problem in the morning. Just had to lift the black lever.

The problem was with the connector mechanism itself, WD-40 really helped to loosen/lubricate the stuck connector. Before applying it I could barely move the black lever upwards.
