    Exclamation 2008 9-5 2.3T- new error code- P1312

So I finally changed the upstream O2 sensor over the weekend and the engine light went off. For three days. Now it reappeared and decided to stick around for a while. I drove to AutoZone and the code "P1312" appeared on the scan tool, which means, "the PCM detected that the oxygen sensor 1 circuit voltage continuously exceeded the maximum allowable value for a specified number of combustions." In their system, P1312 is an "Ignition Coil "B" Primary/Secondary Circuit."
This was the exact same message I received about two months ago when I interpreted this as the upstream O2 sensor needed replacing. Now that it is back on after installing a new Bosch OE O2 sensor, I have no idea what to make of this.
There are no misfires, no out of the ordinary sounds or performance of the motor. Everything seems to run fine other than this code. If someone would shed some light on this it would be a great help to me. Thanks in advance.

P1312 is a failing DIC. The engine can run great for a while but eventually it will fail and leave you stranded on the side of the road. The code may go away for a while after the CEL is reset but eventually will return.

Replace with an OEM DIC and do the spark plugs at the same time.

Nordwulf-Thanks for the help. Two questions. First, the OE spark plug is NGK R double platinum, and according to the DIC cartridge only resistor plugs can be used, which they are. I have always been partial to Bosch and Denso but I cannot find any confirmation that their plug is a resistor plug, so your thoughts would be appreciated. Second, if you would know the torque setting for the spark plug, or where to find it, that would be appreciated as well.

Only use the NGK plugs, they are the best match for the engine. Auto parts stores will tell you differently but Saab knows better.

You don't have to use a torque wrench when installing these plugs but you can: 28 Nm / 21 lb ft

More info about changing the spark plugs can be found here: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=25916

Thanks for the forward to the tutorial, very clear and helpful. If I read the NGK website correctly, the plugs are pre gapped to 0.040 in., but perhaps keeping a gap tool in the garage is not such a bad idea. My best to you for the advice.
