    Water on right front floor

Size: 44.2 KBMy '05 9-3 Aero has almost 1/2" of standing water, mostly on the left side of the right front compartment (U.S. passenger side). I haven't been able to attribute any event to this condition except the coolant level of the expansion tank being down ~1/2" and the liquid on the floor seemed to be water, not antifreeze. I removed the heater core and it tested fine but did notice the foam in the attached photo was soaking wet. Does anyone know what this is and why it would be wet? Thanks!

Barring a leaking seal exposed by torrential down pour and hurricane force winds, I would suspect a plugged AC condensation drain.

Thanks, Digger! The drain hose was dripping so I didn't suspect it at first and given the amount of water of the floor it seemed more like outside water coming in.

Could still be outside water coming in, tree leaves will eventually rot into muck plugs, but pine needles collect road dirt and work a whole lot faster. When the fender drain lines plug up water can get in through the fresh air intake, but the condensation drain line needs to be plugging up to flood the air box.

Another thing to check is the sunroof drains. Lots of search results for "saab 9-3 sunroof drain" in your favorite search engine.

This is another thread I found in a quick search: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=33184

Best Volvo I ever bought, I bought dirt cheap with a loose sunroof drain from a dealer that had taken the car in on trade two hours before it started to rain. Sun roof drains are a problem and usually the first place I look, but they don't soak the air box foam. Google search for water on Saab floor will bring up this water on the floor URL and good thing you thought to mention it.

Wow, what a pain in the butt! I failed to mention that this car stays on jack stands during the winter months and when I started it up this year the vents clogged with insulation. It seems that a rodent got in the vent system, even the insulation under the carpeting was chewed up. I've checked the drains and can't say for sure that I've cleared the condensation drain completely though. It seems to be clear when I feed a plastic wire though it but would feel better if I could access the evaporator and haven't figured out how to get to it.
