08 9-5 wagon, 2.3 AT - auto trans leaks a bit and occasionally is slow to shift

Hi,
My auto trans leaks a bit and occasionally is slow to shift, then surges into gear. Common? Ideas? Longevity as is? Repairs?

I don't think it is very common. Where does it leak from? How is the fluid level? If it leaks, the level may be too low causing shifting problems. Unfortunately, these model years don't have an easy way to check the ATF fluid level.

Drive axle seals are common leak points on front wheel drive tranny's,.Though very easy to do at the time, many a drive axle is replaced for bad CV joint, or removed to replace leaking CV boot, these seals are seldom replaced as normal preventative maintenance by the small shop or DIY as they are an extra expense that doesn't appear necessary at the time. Check your drive axle seals, these seals are cheap and fairly easy to replace, having someone pull the axles for you can be pricy.
