Insane Coolant Leak

Hey Guys,


I am having an issue troubleshooting my massive coolant leak, which is preventing me from driving. I've been having a minor leak for while but just couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from. Well now she's gushing Prestone orange and I still can't figure it out (has not run hot).


I thought it might be the heater core valve but this can't be it because the leak is coming from the passenger side, seemingly above the alternator (please see video, https://youtu.be/S7WD2kvCb90).


Either way (quick hijack of my own thread), I think this has triggered my MAF Sensor because suddenly my check engine light is on, and reading MAF Sensor failure.


Can it be a coincidence that this is occurring at the same time as this massive leak? I know, one thing at a time but just sayin'. Any thoughts? I can easily swap out the MAF Sensor but just wondering if anyone ever heard or experienced this.


Priority: Please help me to identify where this leak is coming from.

I think that is not your alternator. It looks like it is in front of the engine. It looks like the water pump. Water pumps are somewhat easy to replace. Can you show pictures right above the leak? Thanks

Yeah, I figured that out. It’s the ac compressor. It’s been raining here so I can’t get a good look at what’s going on but it looks like it’s a dark hole. I think it’s got something to do with the compressor but I’m not sure.

It just looks very tight up there even with a flashlight. I which I had a lift.

It is the water pump that is above the A/C. I just replaced my water pump, a little work, but worth it.

I agree with Pali7, sure sounds like it is coming from the coolant pump. The small O-ring failed on mine but that was a pretty slow leak and more like a drip. But it could be the other o-rings or the actual pump itself. While you're in there, it is best to replace the pump and all gaskets.

I decided to do some more troubleshooting because I have a strange feeling it’s not the water pump. The leak had suddenly stopped. Had an indie do a pressure test and everything was clear. What gives?

Refilled reservoir with water. Where would the floater come from? O-ring?
