Rear-middle safety belt is stuck
Hi,
I have a problem with my SAAB where the rear-middle safety belt is stuck.
I have tried to loosen the bult bellow the seat and feed in more of the belt in an attempt to release the lock.
The lock did not disengage and I am now stick with a locked safety belt.
I payed a visit to my local scrap dealer and found a used, though fully functional, safety belt with the same part number as in my car.
The safety belt, as I understand, is located inside the rear-middle seat and I do not know how to replace it.
Do you need to remove the rear seat completely to access and replace the part?
How do you do this without destroying the interior?
Does anyone know how to replace the locking mechanism in a SAAB combi?
I ask here because Google did not know...
Any help is very appreciated!
Best regards

Is it the lock that's stuck or is it the belt that won't retract?
My rear middle lock broke but without the belt attached to it. It is a simple spring mechanism. The middle rear lock is in a unit with the lock next to it. Inexpensive part. If you can't pick it open with a very thin flexible blade it could perhaps be cut/preyed open.
Didn't cost much to have it fixed. Rear seat was flipped forward, nothing more.
Lycka till!

It is the spool that winds up the safety belt inside the seat that is stuck.
Please see the video, it is more explanatory:
Does anyone know how to change this part or attempt a repair?
Thanks!

I had a 2005 9-3 where the driver's seat belt would not retract. The belt and spool was replaced. Sorry, I did not do it myself so I don't know how it was done.

So I visited a mechanic and asked about the problem.
They wanted to service the car and replace the seat belt and the winding mechanism for 450 EUR.
After a long talk I was able to buy a copy of the service repair manual for 5 EUR that specifies how to replace the seat belt in the rear middle.
With the service manual I was able to unbolt the rewinding mechanism of the seat belt and successfully got it working again.
I will upload the service repair manual here along with a video on how to do this repair yourself. (If any one else is experiencing the same problem)
Stay tuned for the upload.

Sorry for the long wait, the video is finally done!
Here is my video on how I resolved my problem with the stuck rear-middle seatbelt.
I hope this might be useful to owners with the same problem!
Here is the manual I used to do this repair:
