Ticking under load
My 9-5 gf has had a ticking when under load. A more of a random tick then constantly even tick like a lifter. Sometimes it would be “Tick Tick. Tick”. Then some times it would be “tictictictic Tick”. At first I thought it was the timing chain. Since that is what all the information on here says. I pulled the timing chain tensioner out at it messed at 15mm.
That was replaced today. All new parts for the timing chain. I also removed the balance shaft chain. Left the bs tensioner in place along with the intake side guide as a spacer. The shafts are still in place. Basically no chain.
The tick is still there. Somewhat frustrating. My next thought is turbo. There is some side to side play in the shaft but the fins are all straight. I did read on a dsm sure that the wastegate could cause a ticking noise if the head shield has been removed. Which mine is.
Any other thoughts? Anyone else have a tick with heat shielding removed.
