9.3 2006 Taking out the radio and nav system

Hey for years I am active on the Dutch Saab Forum they can't help me apparently
A year ago I viewed a video on the internet of someone taking out his radio and navigation system from which he kept only one or two electronic boards from each item hid them in the dashboard and than installed an after-market radio.
by doing so he kept the sounds from the blinkers and so, but most importantly the car kept running.
I know that if you take out the navigation unit the car wont start.

Does anyone know where to find this video or can he or she tell me what boards to keep and which I can take safely out?
