road or tyre sound high at rear seat
Hi.
Living in Sweden and now drives on winter wheels and notice that my Saab NG 9-5 2011
is not as pleasant as it should be. Its quite noisy, not from the engine but more from the road.
I noticed the sound level with summer wheels too. Is there anyone who has the same experience?
I am planning to install sound dampener in the trunk this spring. I think all the noise comes from the back
end of the car.
Or is wheel bearings an issue on this car?
Regards
Jan

not wheel bearing because it coming more and more louder quickly when it goes south, the noise is audible when the suspensions are in charge on curves or corners at speed.
i'll bet for a bad balancing wheels if it happen when your in straight line driving around 70-120 km/h is it the case?

I'd say wheelbearing. On mine both backwheels bearings went roughly at 150tkm. And the other begin to give small noice becoming slowly worse, I drove several months before I changed it.

Thanks for your response.
It increases with speed in some way but all four wheels are balanced recently. Yes it is between 70-120 km/h and no difference when turning.
The car has been driven with 10" wide rims for a while and the driving was very ruff. Maybe the car aged quickly.

I will test the bearings more in the spring. My car has 110tkm on the speedometer but has been driven with big rims. 20"x10"

I would look underneath and see if the insides of the tyres are wearing faster than the outsides, of so it will be bushes in the rear suspension.

Here comes a update. I haven't solved the problem yet. I cleaned up the caliper, find out that the brake pads stayed pressed on the disc lightly and made some noise.(Tip from Saab tech)
It didn't fix the problem so I will replace the wheel bearings on both sides at the rear.
I delivered 50 sleeping bags to a friend, packed them in the rear seat. Guess what? The noise were gone! Must be rear...something

Changed right rear bearing and the noise is much less annoying. Left side must be changed too, it has a strange click noise.
Cant say that newer cars are better than old reliable Saabs or Volvos from the sixties to repair.
