Saab 93 2002 car battery changed, now keys won't sync

Hello,

first time posting here and hopefully this makes sense...

I just bought a 93, 2002 and so far absolutely love it

but

the garage i bought it from changed the car battery and apparently (according to the internet) this means that the remote control keys won't work; which they don't.

The key fob has 3 buttons and a CR1632 battery.

With both the keys I can put them into the ignition, switch to the "on" position, hold down the 'boot open' button for a couple of seconds and the SID tells me "2 remote, 2 transponders" - the same message for both keys.

What the internet doesn't tell me is how to sync the keys back up to the car.

As the info system is responding to the key presses on both key fobs that tells me the batteries work (i changed one just in case), the transmitter from the keys works, the receiver works... i just don't know how to tell the car that the 2 keys it knows about need to start working again...

any suggestions to help resolve this will be greatly appreciated!

This section is for 2003 and newer 9-3's so you might need to repost in the older 9-3 section to get the answer from someone who has done this, but from reading the WIS and without knowing if the locks work with the switches, I can guess that you have done the right thing the right way and have a blown fuse or bad component and suggest a quick check of fuses.
