Change intermittent wiper controls?

I have a 2008 Saab 9-3 with a sensor for the intermittent wipers. I HATE the sensor-driven intermittent wipers. I previously had a 2006 Saab 9-3 with manual intermittent wipers. The wiper controls on the '06 were so great. The feel of that manual control was sublime and the predictable setting was far more preferable than the randomness of the sensor.

I really want to change the sensor-driven wipers to manually controlled. Does anyone know what it would take to do this? Is it as simple as changing the control arm, or is there computer stuff that has to be done?

I had a 2005 9-3 with manual intermittent wipers. It was the best that I ever had.

My current car has a rain sensor. I don't like the randomness of the wipes. In addition, it wipes too much. Sometimes, I just activate one wipe instead of intermittent and then wipe about twice a minute. I believe that car companies think people like this. I like manual stuff except for a few exceptions, like traction control and anti-lock brakes.

Maybe I am out of line here guys, but I had the same problem and changing the og size wiperblades 550/550 to the ng size of 600/550 solved the sensor problems.
Works like a charm, just regular flatblades from a non OEM brand.

Oeps, sorry, I misread; it's 9-3, I have a 9-5. [emoji21]

So, 530/530 for 9-3. Try a 550 blade driver's side. Maybe this solves the issue
