    2003 Saab 9-3 Vector 2.0t 6 speed

    2003 6 speed F40 problems

I just bought a 2003 Saab 9-3 Vector 2.0t 6 speed manual trans. Has about 160k on odometer. Has 3in downpipe to 3 in exhaust dumped, stage 2 Maptun tune (have the touchscreen tuner also), and slammed on D2 coilovers. The kid that had it thought he blew the clutch so he got a Luk replacement clutch assembly installed. He said it felt like it wasn’t goin into gear. Clutch pedal has good pressure, it definitely feels like it’s engaging. So looking at it I realized real quick it was the passenger cv halfshaft, it was broken right at the end joint near the hub. So I jacked it up, pulled it, and started to inspect everything underneath. There is transmission fluid dripping everywhere on the tranny, there seems to be a gap at the bottom of the transmission and misaligned holes to where it looks like the tranny didn’t line up? I checked the case, it says F40 on it, and I do have the receipt and box with the old clutch. I’ll attach some pics. When the cars running especially now with the cv shaft out, the transmission is very quiet no noises. Oh and right around the bottom of the case where the gap is when you touch the fluid there’s small shavings all over it. Clutch maybe? The teeth on the flywheel are perfect

You have an excellent Saab Service Center at Swede Central in Winter Park, FL. 407-599-4900. If you want to do the work yourself they could give you at least the list of the parts you will need. If you have had any service done there they would probably be happy to talk with you over the phone.

This morning as I was having a repair performed on my wife's 9-3 XWD, Guy at Swede Central said he talked to you yesterday. I showed him your post. If your repair gets complicated you might want him to confirm that you are using the correct parts. Orio recently changed the part number for the 2008 9-3 SS rear left side door lock and had me confused when the lock arrived and the part number was a match for the 2004-2005 9-3 lock instead of the 2008 9-3 lock. Apparently the lock now works for all 2003-2011 9-3 SSs. Guy quickly confirmed I had the "new" part number (part) and it works with my vin. The new part has not been put in yet. Good luck.
