He did say that he cleaned the MAF and cleaning a dirty MAF gets it working like a clean MAF should, cleaning doesn't fix a bad MAF and these things do go bad.

After hearing several other suggestions on how to increase my mpg a common one was the DIC, I had a crappy Pro-Parts one and the CEL came on so I went and brought a brand new Saab OEM DIC, this did not change my mpg whatsoever, I am still getting 13-15 mixed. So far I have cleaned the MAF and Throttle body, changed spark plugs (NGK 6290), changed fuel filter, new air filter, new oil (0W-40), good gas, Fuel injector/fuel system additives and brand new Good Year Eagle Sports. I'm a high school student and gas is very expensive near me so there are days I walk to school just to save gas so any suggestions at this point will help, one of many reasons I bought this car was so I could have a performance saloon and still not break the bank of gas but so far that's not happening.

....Im having the same problem, freshly tuned tagged and inspected, but I have lost 3 miles mpg somewhere, have you foun a solution?

OP, I didn't see you mention the O2 sensor (fuel/air ratio sensor).

The MAF sensor measures the airflow into the engine, the fuel/air ratio sensor measures the combustion efficiency and the ECU adjusts the fuel trim accordingly.

Your problem is probably a bad O2 sensor. However, before you replace it make sure there are no air leaks between the MAF and the intake manifold and check the two large o-rings at the throttle body. Also look for exhaust leaks upstream of the O2 sensor. If that all checks out, replace the O2 sensor. Buy a Saab OEM sensor, no aftermarket.

Final thing to do after that if still no joy is install a new OEM MAF sensor.

I would only get the recommended platinum plugs. I tried something along the lines of iridium and did not get better results at all. Quality tires and air pressure helps too. Also check your vaccum lines and connections
