Need a kit to fix HVAC

I have a fault code on my 01 9-5 AERO heat/AC

01/06 Stepping motor, air-mixing flap, LH - open or short circuit B2490

No one has posted about this in a while and I wondered if there is a kit available to fix it? Apparently it's a common problem. My mechanic says he would have to take the entire interior apart to get at the problem. I am hoping it's simplier than that.
