    Tech 2 key programming

Hi all new to the site. Stumbled across it while trying to figure out this error I'm having. Well the error is as follows I bought a new key for my 2008 Saab 9-3 and I want to program it.

For those who are familiar with this procedure, when it asks to insert a valid key I add the know key and get the following message.

    *** Key programming failed ***

It was NOT possible to "Add" the key to the CIM.

It's strange and frustrating as it's the know key. I've no cim dtc but have some bcm and pdm on it which wont clear. Anyway thanks for the welcome and any help would be appreciated

If TIS isn't working key programming won't work. Are you able to get security access and change something as simple as your tyre size?

You can't get into TIS programing without a good key and with your BCM & PDM errors I suspect a bad sensor busying up the BUS as you didn't mention the engine wasn't running and as I know virtually nothing about the diesel I can only assume that you have a good fuel pump.

Check for and clear any errors on your I & O bus lines and give the key program another try.

Use the Tech 2 and TIS, BUS testing and resets are security accessed diagnostics.
