Rough idling following a very hard braking

I recent braked as hard as possible. The engine - almost - stalled. Right after I had some rough idling. It has gradually grown worse. Cruising 1500-2000-2500 RPM is not problem, and as the engines warms up the idling is, or rather was almost OK, but not quite OK.

To day the idling became a lot worse. Engine light came on for the first time ever. It is a 9-5 "T" 2004 ARC, 2.3 L 220 HP. TB was changed for the first time, at 231K km/145K miles, 18 months ago, and the car has been running smoothly until now (273K km/170K miles). DYI is an original sparepart 24 months old, spark plugs and air filter even newer.
I feel that some thing was whirled up in the system, and clogs some valve somewhere, but where?
When I purchased the car in 2014, I dropped the oilpan, and there were no sludge. I have made oil changes every 10K km/ 6K miles or less since then.

Any ideas? I will be grateful for your comments

Hello, did you connect the obd to verify what code it throws?

Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately I don't have such equipment.

Right now I am checking vacuum line (leaks and connections) I will try and se if there any visible dirt in the TB (without dismantling it, it is fairly new) and check the MAF, which I cleaned 18 months ago, also the PCV valve was changed to a new in metal.

start reading codes with obd or similar. The obd2 costs very little money ... 5 dollars on ebay

If you do not know the error, you can disassemble half the car and not find the problem

    Tanks again quake4

I see I need to buy an obd2, would you care to mention which one you use?

I have looked here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8Xz7-T9wAs but find it difficult to decide which one will do the job on a Saab 9-5 MY 2004

I am generally using IOS or a MacBook Pro, but if Android is the way to go, I will manage that as well.

Hey I think I found the culprit. There were a vaccum line break. I don't know all the correct names. But the long vaccum line from the turbo to the firewall splits in a T and a very short part goes to the lower part of the TB, it is probably 5-6 cm long after going through a (?) check valve. It was actually the stud of the valve that had broken inside the vaccum line, leaving only 2-3 mm free.
I have temporarily made a bandage out of Gaffa tape keeping it tight together, and I am happy to say the car runs perfectly for now, at least for the week-end. On Monday I will buy a new valve and new blue silicon vaccum lines. Blue vaccum line are much easier to se than black and dirty ones. I simply didn't se the breakages to begin with.

Well done! There is something immensely satisfying about fixing a problem without needing the help of a computer. I think there is too much reliance on fault codes and not enough basic system knowledge. The 9-5 is simple enough that most things can be fixed by good basic troubleshooting.

I'm glad you solve the "problem" Steno. Reading the comments and how I have a 9-5, I'll throw my computer in the trash. From now on, all problems will be solved without a computer Jijijijij
