Need some assistance , Please ?
First off ..... Thanks for having me ! 2003 9-5 Wagon , 4cyl , 175k miles
Car has been running great 27.5 MPG , drives 37 miles each way to work and home again every day. Yesterday driving home , hot , humid 85* out. Approx 33 miles into the ride cruising at 45 , I speed up to 50 set cruise control , everything is fine ...... WHOA , WHAT ....... all dash lights on tach bottomed out , car has stalled. Pull to road side , put car in park , shut key off , attempt to restart , car turn over fine no starty .... wtf ? try multiple times still no starty ! Call a friend with car carrier , 30 mins later its on the truck , 5 min ride to the house unload car ....... frig around for 5 mins pissed off , turn key starts right up ! ! ! ! ! WHAT ??? So now I don't dare to use it don't have time to drive then sit then drive then sit.
So just under 1/2 tank fuel , new plugs 500 miles ago , when I cranked (but wouldn't start) tack needle did move ( out rules CPS) no check engine light.
Any thoughts .................. Ignition cassette ? Fuel Pump ?
Thanks to all for your thoughts and ideas !

Sounds similar to when my throttle body was fubar. Any hesitation, hunting or surging (especially using CC) prior to this? Anyhoo, previously tried cleaning it but that hadn't made any difference and then when it went the car did more or less what yours did. Kicked out of cruise, lights on, coasted to the side of the road. Eventually started but I had to reset the throttle body. Check yours, there are plenty of videos on YT.

OK , bought a code reader yesterday ..... Here are the results :
P0327 , knock sensor 1 Circuit Low Input (bank 1)
P0327 Fault Symptoms
- Check engine light comes on
- Engine stalling or misfiring
- Engine performance issues
- Car not starting
P0131 , No DTC definition found.
P0131 Fault Symptoms :
- Check engine light comes on
- Engine stalling or misfiring
- Engine performance issues
- Car not starting
P1105 , No dtc definition found .
P1105 Fault Symptoms :
- Check engine light comes on
- Engine stalling or misfiring
- Engine performance issues
- Car not starting
Strangely enough I HAD ALL those symptoms .... the ENGINE light did come on when the car stalled , thus causing definite performance issues , and would not start after this occurred ! Glad I spent the $$ on a code reader !!
Well thats a big friggen help now isn't it !!!
I also have a 1999 9-3 ragtop , can I swap the Ignition Cassette (red) with the one in the 9-5 (black) to test ?
Thanks for your help !

P0327 and P0131 point to a faulty DIC. I don't think the older red ones can be used in place of the black ones.
The WIS shows P1105 is related to the turbo. If you already haven't done so, download and install the WIS: http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=33310

The knock sensor is in the DI Cassette so the first code clearly suggests that item as part of the problem. You can use a Red Di in place of a Black one but one difference is that the knock sensor on engines that use a Red DI is bolted to the cylinder block and the on the Black one they are internal. I think you will need to buy a new DI Cassette, preferably an OEM one.

I think it's a problem with the crankshaft sensor. If the engine starts again after 20 - 30 min after cooling down it can't be a gasoline problem.
The crankshaft sensor is a known problem with the saab 9-5. It is easy to change.
