Programming key fob with Tech 2 ....DYI possible or not?
Can anyone tell me if I can program my own new replacement key fob for 2010 93 convertable if I purchase a tech 2 unit. I am not sure if a security code which is only known by dealers and licensed indys has to be entered to do so. Thanks for any info to help.

Your existing key fob is your security code, but it is not enough to gain programming access. Along with the Tech 2, you will need the Saab TIS software to get security access for programming and that means you need a computer with a serial port running Windows XP SP3 or 2000 pro. Plenty of reasonably priced XP pro operating system laptops still available and plenty of Chinese Tech 2's and older Saab Global TIS programs available, but tech support from China is virtually nonexistent and you are basically on your own to get TIS working and updated to program your 2010. If you are going to self maintain, getting TIS up and running will save you a small fortune, but with no support for XP and no support for old TIS, getting this to work will require no small effort.

Thank you for that info Digger. My wife and I both drive 93 convertibles (2009 and 2010) so I would like to do as much self maintenance as I can.I have an laptop that has XP installed so I may be a step in the right direction already.

Little hint on installing TIS. If your copy of TIS comes with 3 or 4 sentences of instructions, installation is by guess and by gosh. If your first best guess selection doesn't work, uninstalling TIS doesn't completely uninstall the software and your next best guess won't work either. You can spend all day digging all the TIS altered .dlls out of the win sys 32, or you can reinstall XP. Making a system restore disk on a big thumb drive before your first TIS install will save you many many many hours of time.

Global TIS can be installed on a Windows 10 machine and works fine, I use it with my Tech2, key programming is simple if you follow the on screen prompts from the Tech2.
