Mystery disappearing power steering fluid
Need some help with this before I spend more money. Replaced leaking power steering pump with refurbished pump from auto parts store. Changed all o-rings on pump and old resivior. Put the new pump on and fill it with fluid and it just disappears as I fill it. Check for dripping, leaking, or boots filling up and there is none of this going on. Has anyone else dealt with this and what is the solution. Please help before I pay a shop to much money. Forgot to mention that I changed pump 3 times to make sure it wasn't the pump and the problem occurred all 3 times.

That green euro fluid isn't cheep and if it's not filling the system and not going to a puddle on the ground the only other place it could be going is into the oil pan. Does take a liter to fill the system, how much have you put in?

Have you bled the steering by turning the steering wheel to full lock left and right a few times?

Two most common problems with the pump are the cam shaft seal that leaks oil into the PS fluid and overfills the reservoir and the old reservoir not sealing to the new pump. If you flushed and filled the system with pump replacement, you aren't leaking at the pump, you aren't spewing steering fluid into your oil, and you aren't leaking through the rack, the only other possibility is a leak in the plumbing, hose or fitting. Fluid disappearing without a trace as you fill is either going into an empty system or you have just entered the Bermuda Triangle.

I have the same problem with a 2008 9-3 Linear, Vanishing PS Fluid.
