Saab 9-5 2.0t 2001 - EVAP hoses broken!

Heya fellow Saab owners!


I got a Saab 9-5 2001 I got problems with, with some searching and advise from friends I was told it was the EVAP system but with limited knowledge I ended up here.
Lately my car has started to sound like a vacuum cleaner with a high pitch sound now and then. And it looks like 2 hoses from the EVAP system is broken.


Now, I don't know how they should be connected, if there should be a T-cross connector in between. I got 2 questions.

Question 1. I got time in 2 weeks (the earliest) at a garage, but I need the car before that to and from work, is this something I can drive with.

Question 2. Can you see on the attached pictures how the hoses should be connected to each other, cause I don't know what I'm looking at.


I don't know whether hose nr: 1,2 & 3 are connected with each other or if one of them go somewhere else.

The valve in picture 2, the middle one, is the APC valve and nothing to do with the Evap system. If the hoses are damaged you are likely to be restricted to base boost.

Thank you for your answer. So the question is which one of hose 1 and 2 should be connected to the valve, or perhaps the EVAP system is in fact intact and both hose 1 and 2 should be connected to the APC valve ?
And yes, I've lost a few ponies, I basically have to spend half a day planning whenever I wanna overtake another car.

Anyway, the car is in a garage now and they will start looking at it on monday, hopefully they know what have to be done and where they go

Heya fellows


I picked up my car from the garage today and it was the boost control valve and the hoses to the valve that was broken, later they discovered that I also had a malfunctioning turbo bypass valve. So no wonder my car didn't have any power.
Anyway, it's now fixed and cost me €250 total, which wasen't bad.

I hope this help anyone and you can lock this thread.

Glad you got it fixed, bypass valve problems are much less common on the 9-5 than they were on the 9000 to the extent that I am not sure I would recognise a failed one now.
