    Name that pipe!

Hi Saabites, I'm a long time lurker/user of the great resources on these forums but now I could do with a bit of guidance.

I recently removed my throttle body to clean and replace the gaskets in the hope of addressing a rough idling issue. The car is now idling in neutral at 2000rpm! It also revs up and down (seeking) when starting from cold, which is a new problem! I think when I removed the throttle I damaged a pipe shown in the pictures. This pipe is now just hanging loose, but when I jam it back in the hole, it seems to fix the issue, although it soon works its way loose again. Hopefully it will be easy to replace, but can anyone name this pipe!

It's the pipe below the T junction, with the red base. I think it is something to do with the crank shaft ventilation but I'm not 100% sure.

    Thanks for the help!

Hello, as nobody answers I will answer, possibly to make a mistake. That tube seems part of the ventilation system of the crankcase. Regarding the accelerated idle, keep in mind that in this engine any air intake can give rise to your problem.
Let's see if Professor Nordwulf clarifies it for us.

If its the hard plastic pipe that goes I to the red ring, thats a vacuum line. Ive recently had issues with my car dieing while trying to stop. Turns out that the red clip wasn't holding the vac line in place and was getting a vac leak. Replaced the red clip with one I got at a junk yard and my problem went away. Before replacing it, I could easily slide that plastic vac line in and out of that red clip with no resistance.

If you need to replace the vac line itself, one of my local parts stores said they could have it within a day and would cost between 30 and 40 dollars.

If that is indeed the pipe / vacuum line that is in question, it connects from the vacuum booster pump to the intake manifold, and the "t" leads to the master cylinder.
