    Price of used 2008 9-3?

    Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a 2008 Saab 9-3 4D 2.0T in Excellent condition, smartly optioned with 93K miles for $8K. Clean inside and out and well maintained. Is this unrealistic?

The current 2019 online auto price guides value this car around the $5K range.

    Thanks for your future comments.

The used car market is what it is and depending on supply, demand and where you are geographically, actual sale prices can differ drastically. 3K difference for a perfect needs nothing no problem car with extended covers everything warranty for 200K + miles and several years would be reasonable in the right part of the country. Where I am this car is several K over priced.

    I think that's way overpriced. I found my 08 Aero with 50k for 9k. Wasn't perfect, but still wouldn't pay 8 for a 2.0 with 93K.

I would check forums and the Saab network classifieds

Your poker face comes in handy here.

For the unusual buyer, they are looking for a specific car in good condition and know that a missed opportunity may never present again. On the other hand, Saabs are increasingly the car of the poor student or entry level wage earner. I see a Saab driven by a presumably low paid coffee barista parked outside a stand some days. That person benefits from the car being low priced and also that they are driving a Saab, previously not attainable for some. For many Saabs, they are cheap and not $8.000.

If history were different, I might be driving 2013 Saab 900 Phoenix but that was not to be. Instead, I envy those with a 2005-2006 Saab 9-3.

If you buy the car, consider NOT having collision coverage. If someone hits your car and you have collision, the car will be declared totaled and you will lose the Saab. If you don't have collision and someone hits you, you may be able to insist on repair even if the cost of repair approaches 98% of the value of the car.

Thank you all for commenting. I was able to get more information on the vehicle and the seller reconditioned the car. So basically trying to recoup parts and labor cost. I'll pass.

Dave, Good idea about the collision, I was thinking of removing it on my aging BMW.

    I'll keep looking.
