Blend Door Arm - Part Cracked 2004- cars!
Hi,
Tricky one. I am trying to fix my very precious Saab 95 (117k) owned from new car. It is very special to me so I want to keep it running well.
I have (if you check the photos) this Error code for Both left and right motors. I have cracked the yellow plastic housing on the shaft for the motor flaps.
However, the plastic shaft is very solid and I can feel inside that is ok.
All I have done is cracked the heat where the hexagonal (important) head on the end of the stepper motor pushes on.
The white plastic arm is 100% fine as well.
What I need a new tip only on the yellow part or an end repair. However, I can find nobody on the internet with the same issue.
Also the repair metal shafts seem to be round inside and not hex head. Also clearly I have not actually cracked the arm so I cannot use this unless I somehow cut the yellow shaft (bit tricky).
I really need an expert. So any help appreciated.
It is also made a lot harder by the fact that before 2004 I think the motors were all different!
Thanks
Daniel

Also if anyone has some pictures of the metal arm installed I would really appreciate it as I have not got one in my hand and I cannot see the internal shape and if they are hexagonal or round!

These air control motors were made by Valeo for use in many different vehicles and some motor housings are quite pricey Saab specific. These motors sell as assemblies and piece parts are acquired by cannibalizing parts from other motor assemblies. U-Pull / breaker yards are the best sources for parts and googling Valeo air motor images is the best shopping catalog for potential donors.
Then again, you could always order the Saab part, but whats the fun in that.

As the original post was from the UK may I suggest Miliput an epoxy putty. It is a two part putty, kneed equal amounts of the two parts together until it is a consistent colour and it can be moulded as required. After a short period it sets hard. I think it might solve the problem and for under £5 there is not much risk.

actually sounds odd but it might be worth trying to glue a bit onto the white plastic inside the rim instead as that is quite loose and that will wedge on the yellow plastic!
Worth a try as nobody has a fixLast edited by djrpowell; 23 June 2020 at 09:08.

I have managed to fix it a little.
I cut a small wedge from a really hard plastic tile spacer which I shaved down.
Then I pushed it really hard into the space as seen.
This enables the motor to not push out at least one side.
I am not sure it is perfect it I think it helped!

I had this on a ‘98 SE. Ended up removing the dash and air box to rectify the fault.
More things change. The more they stay the same.
