My first Saab with European Delivery was in early 2006 so more than 14 years ago! I sometimes wonder where it is now and if it is still enjoyed by someone. They have no idea it was driven through Sweden, Norway, Netherlands and the UK. Good memories.

Maybe you should have hidden a note in the car? Some possible places could be under the rubber mat inside the center console or under the spare tire. My 2005 9-3 is driving on the streets of Tacoma, Washington, I believe. My first Saab was driven in Pennsylvania according to Carfax records then I believe it was scrapped. My second Saab was driven in Indiana according to Carfax records then I believe it was scrapped. My third was scrapped.

This photo was supposed to be posted tomorrow but I'll post it early. This is my third Saab. It was mostly stock but it did have front fog lights, Saab alarm, self installed rear headrests, European spec H4 headlights, and a Saab dealer accessory 3M black abrasive tape to combat stone chips. The driver's side wiper was replaced with a double wiper blade. I also put in a rubber deadpedal as well as a Jack Ashcraft designed coolant filter. The 900S had a delayed interior light turn off which I retrofitted into my 900 by adding a relay under the rear seat.

In those days, the car was pre-wired so simply putting in fog lights was easy. Now, cars have to be reprogrammed to do that. The same with the interior light delay. Just plug in a relay and it's there.

This car is similar to my 5th Saab. It was a 1999 Saab 9-3SE. Black. 5 door hatchback. Same wheels.

This was my least liked of my 5 Saabs. Maybe because it was rough riding and 15 years old when I got it.

This was my 4th Saab, a 2005 9-3 (Linear). It was, like nordwulf's blue 9-3, a European Delivery car. Like him, we both arrived in Gothenburg to find no driver and then the assigned hotel closed, as it closes on Sundays except in the summer. I had the problem in 2005 and he had it in 2006, so obviously, it wasn't solved. It was a fun adventure!

aftermarket ASA JH8 17" wheels and Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric, at the time, was the best tire I had ever bought. Good dry performance and quiet

My first license plate solution. Tie the license plate to the Swedish plate. Later, I removed the Swedish plate and screwed the US style plate to the Swedish plate backing. Some time later, I removed the Swedish plate backing and put on a US plate backing.

I made a narrow carpet mat to act as a deadpedal mat. My classic 900's also lacked such a mat but I installed a rubber pedal cover that I bought by mail from a company advertising in Nines magazine.

This 9-3 was the most refined of the 5 Saabs that I've owned. The classic 900 didn't have traction control so it was a blast to drive almost up to its limits without exceeding them (or sometimes slightly exceeding them). The 9-3's traction control, along with good replacement tires, made it safer to drive and also a blast to drive. With traction control and the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tires, along with driver caution, it was nearly impossible to active traction control by driving. With the stock all season Pirelli P6000 All Season, it was possible to activate traction control by driving. Growing up with a classic 900, I envied the "rich people" who had allow wheels and a turbo but I became one of them (ha ha) when the 9-3 came with it as standard equipment.

1 day and counting to the 10th anniversary of Saabworld!

During the past few days, I've shared pictures of cars similar to my five Saabs. Today is a photo of the Saab assembly plant in Trollhattan. When I took a factory tour there in 2005, no cameras were allowed. There was an electric golf cart-like vehicle towing trailers where the tour groups sat. It drove past the paint shop then into the factory building. There it drove through the plant along the parallel rows. The assembly line starts at the stamping presses then starts to go in a straight line. The tour then continues to the next parallel row. In other words, the assembly line is not a long straight line but conforms to the shape of the rectangular building, one row after another. Like this....

Since Saab car production has ended, I will confess. I brought a Palm Pilot, which was similar in size to smartphones of 2015 but didn't have a phone or wifi capability, mostly took low resolution photos and kept addresses and personal notes. I then took a few photos, maybe 3-4. Along the edge of the photos was my jacket. Unfortunately, the batteries of the Palm eventually died and I don't remember that there was a way to transfer photos. Maybe there was a way with a USB cord but I don't know. The batteries were rechargable but now probably permanently dead.

Here's a photo of the assembly line. (The tour vehicle would drive along a path similar to the concrete behind the car then wind its way to the concrete (not seen)from where the photo was taken.

    Saabworld (saabworld.net) 2010-2020 and beyond! Established 29 July 2010

It's almost 11 pm Eastern Time on July 28 where Saabworld was created (Michigan). It's already July 29th in Sweden and the GMT time zone. So...

Saabworld. Since 2010. Today is the 10th anniversary of its start. Congratulations to nordwulf for his creation and the fine work he and others have done!

A fitting photo and text would this this one, authored by nordwulf, and about his visit to the Saab Car Museum in Trollhattan. http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?t=31937
This hall is a former factory floor of a plant that built locomotives.

While Saab cars may not be produced anymore, the Saab Car Museum will live on for many years to come! As will Saabworld!

These photos are from the thread linked above.

It's been a good week thinking about Saabs and Saabworld in the prelude to the 10th anniversary of Saabworld!
