Service Vehicle Soon
Hi - 2010 Saab 9-5 2.0 TID4 2.0 Diesel. Has anyone had a fix from their repairer for the following ongoing problem. The vehicle is fitted with glow plugs that has got sensors in them. If the sensors get clogged up with carbon build up it will send a message to the engine ECU and a "Service Vehicle Soon" warning will come up in the centre display. The vehicle will then go in to limp mode. Vauxhall issued a download and fix on all Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 CDTI models with the same problem. Saab did not do this and Vauxhall Dealers can and will not do the fix. Therefore you have to replace all 4 glow plugs at a cost of £450.
Can anyone suggest a long term fix without replacing the glow plugs please?

I suggest that you find an independent specialist, this web site might be the place to start https://the-saab-specialist-register...b-specialists/ I'll ask my local one on Monday if he knows of a fix.

Thanks for your reply. Other NG Saab 9-5 owners must have had the same experience. Just very keen on finding out of anyone has had this issue fixed as it is an expensive fault that can and should have been rectified.

Talking to my local independent this morning I got the impression that the electronics are mostly Vauxhall so I would imagine that it would be possible to apply the Vauxhall fix to a Saab. I'd just phone one and ask what, if anything, they can do.
Unfortunately I can't help because mine isn't a Diesel.

Hi GeoffR thanks for our reply. I have spoken to various Vauxhall Dealers but according o them the updates for the Insignia 2,0 CDTI will not work. Not sure why as the electronics and software in the vehicle is the same. Will have to do a bit more digging I guess

Hii GeoffR thanks for your reply. Bob and Andrew at Bourne are very familiar with my Saab as they have been looking after it for the last 6 years. They also replaced a whole engine when the original one failed. Printed off the original TIS WEB notification from Vauxhall, they made some enquiries but unfortunately came up blank. Thanks again
