2002 9-5 Aero Estate Engine fumes when stationery
I have a 2002 9-5 Aero Estate with 296,000 km on the clock. I have replaced the hoses on the pcv system, which has the later update kit. I also checked the check valves and they appear to work ok. In the past few months the engine fumes when it is idling, no visible smoke, just the smell. It uses about a litre of oil in 8000 km, and I have always used full synthetic oil. I took the valve cover off and the internals are pretty clean, no sign of carbon or other deposits. It also has a couple of small oil leaks from the crank rear seal and the front one, but not too bad. I have had the car for five years and it has been fine up to date, although I did have the excess camber issue on the rear suspension, which is now fixed. Any ideas on the problem and how to fix it would be helpful. I also have a couple of 9000s, (and a Porsche).

The oil use is quite likely to be a leak from the oil pressure switch, the oil drips on to the exhaust. That could also be the source of the fumes.
