This is the kind of question I almost hate to ask; but I've seen it done by an experienced mechanic who forgot to check polarity on a new battery and with your new battery did you connect pos to pos and neg to neg?

There is a fuseable link which is basically a weaker part of the main power wire made specifically to melt away to prevent serious damage; So with no power at all and a spark connecting a new battery make sure the pos and neg cables are on the pos and neg terminals and then make sure that the other ends of the cables have good tight connections.

cheers. battery was connected correctly . where abouts is the fusable link, i think it would be something along this line as there is no power going anywhere, almost like the battery has been disconnected.

Fuseable links are built into cables or connectors, so look under the bonnet for something that looks like this https://www.eeuroparts.com/Parts/147...125A-12177251/ and check for power.

Just to save some time with postings, if you do find the link is blown you will want to disconnect the alternator and make sure it's not shorted before you replace the link or you will be replacing the link again.
