    2009 Saab 9-3 2.0T

My first time buying a Saab and I happen to buy one that the timing jumped on and smashed all the intake valves and owner said that he ran it low on oil a few times so I’ve decided to do a motor swap. When I look up the engine, it says 09 only. Are there any other years that will fit in this car? I’ve heard that 07+ had valve problems so probably be going for an 06. But I don’t wanna buy the engine and not have it work. Hope someone can point me in the right direction here. Pretty mechanic savvy. Been working on American cars for years lol. Thanks in advance!

My car is a 2009 saab 9-3 2.0T sedan and fwd.

Very strange. There wasn't anything major that changed with the 2009 9-3.

According to interchange records, 09 is all by itself and 07-08 are by themselves. I want to get this car going again but I’m not sure on what to do!

I think this is a GM engine so getting it rebuilt has to be an option.

If you want to do a lot of work yourself GM Ecotech metal engine parts are everywhere. Saab compatible electronics aren't and sometimes good used engines are the smarter move. Find one close to you and make an informed decision. https://www.car-part.com/
