2010 NG 9-5 condensation in lightbar

Just a quick question I hope someone can answer. I have a 2010 model 9-5 turbo4 (although this applies to all new generation 9-5s). In this hot weather we have been having lately my lightbar is full of condensation. Is anyone else having the same problem? The car is on the drive most days in full sun - is this the problem and if so do overseas owners have the same issue? The lightbar LEDs were replaced at the beginning of June which was when I first saw the opening in the back of the bar for cables and also the gaps around where the clips are located - so its never been totally sealed. It was totally condensation free until this amazingly hot weather, it did clear when the temperature dropped to normal but has now returned in its present state. The LEDs still function, as when I glued them in place I used loads of glue which has completely sealed them in. I am worried about the connections on the main board under the boot release cover in case they get affected by the damp.

Doesn't matter where you post, I still don't know the cure!

Hello Geoff, I laughed when I saw your reply. I thought I may get more of a chance of an answer from this site as it is more international. Saabs in UK are not used to sunshine - is this the car equivalent of sunburn?

After a little thought, I suspect that you have used too much glue and closed off all the ventilation.

Good suggestion - but not the case. There is an opening in the back of the bar for the fan modification to fit to and also there is a gap around each fixing clip. I have the fan modification from H. Blom which I will probably install next week or so - it looks pretty straightforward once you get all the boot lid lining off, but I am still perplexed as to why the condensation is forming after being clear for ten plus years

I bought the Van from H Blom before my Saab 9-5 was written off. If anyone is interested in purchasing it please let me know? Looking for £30 what I paid for it. Brand new and not used. Name: connector-100x100.jpg

Yesterday I took the boot lid lining off and fitted the H.Blom fan kit. I couldn't quite see where to plug in the connector so I sent them an email asking where it goes. They replied almost immediately with the info and sent a couple of pictures as well - really good customer service! The pictures show the lightbar now after 20 minute trip to the shops - condensation almost completely gone. A longer trip with the fan running longer would have cleared it totally. After fitting the fan kit, I have left the boot lid lining off for now. I can't believe how quickly the
condensation cleared. If anyone has condensation in their lightbar I can recommend this kit.
