Key not Accepted after cleaning ISM?

2004 ARC Conv 2.0T (b207).
Was having issues with "steering lock malfunction" message each startup.
Battery/Alternator check out fine (even did high RPM test to be sure)

Took out ignition and cleaned up (used https://youtu.be/pA_6QwB8rFc?si=-HhwkHZ9oCJvuPeS)


However after putting together get message "key not accepted" for both my keys. Than tried adding/removing (with Tech II) CIM and Keys but neither works. when I try to add keys, the Tech II tells me that the CIM has already keys programmed to it and they should work fine (which they don't)

any suggestions?


Update 1 week later: Turned out it was the Ignition Switch... Got a new one from Rockauto, slightly less $ than the original, put it in and worked intantly...

Update 1 week later:
Issue started up again: "Steering Lock Malfunction" message every 3rd or 4th time I start it up.

So, now I'm thinking it is time for a CIM replacement after: Changing batteries in keys, Put in new ICM, Remove/Added CIM and SLC.
All to no avail, back to pulling fuse 2 every few tries.

Found a CIM from a 2006 Sedan with key and was hoping to exchange it, however, I found my unit, 2004 ARC Conv. has a different Part number, 12805196, than the 2006 sedan, 12810984. You think it will work?
