New vacuum lines
While replacing my heater bypass valve recently I noticed that the vacuum lines were in bad shape and found that the one going from the throttle body to the solenoid on the firewall had come off the solenoid completely.
So I picked up 10 ft of silicone and replaced the old lines.
Here are the old crappy ones:
Old vs new:
The old rubber lines were very brittle and loose at the ends especially the ones at the top of the engine where it is very hot. The new silicone lines look indestructible. Now the car is idling better and boosting is much improved. If you have an older car you should check these lines.Last edited by aeronaut; 29 August 2010 at 00:04.

What size tubing do you need? I am going to add this to my long TODO list.

Thanks for posting this, I just bought 10' of 3.5mm Vacuum hose and am getting ready to install it. It's good to see the total number of hoses that need to be replaced.
The only thing that would make this process even easier, would be if someone would measure each and every stock vacuum hose that needs to come off, so that
the new hoses could be pre-cut to save time.

Some of the smaller ones are associated with the heater bypass valve and are a bit harder to get at and were in fairly good shape as it isn't as hot there. Just remember to only do one line at a time as not to lose track of how they are connected!
Here is a diagram from saabnet showing the lines except for the ones going down to the heater bypass valve. The yellow one is the one that was disconnected on my car.
Check that bypass valve while you are there for any leaks as they are prone for failure. If you see any drips at all replace it as when they go they go big. I just replaced mine.

I just delete the lines to that solenoid. Shorter lines and quicker throttle response. That silicone hose is awesome too.
