    Just a quick update...

The BA35s are the wrong size for the rear shelf on my '07 9 3. I have the old-style nose but new-style dash 9 3 so this may be a quirk of my car or it may be that all post 2007 9 3s have 3.5 in the dash and 4 inch in the rear parcel shelf. Mine has 4 inch speakers in the rear so I've re-ordered 4 inch BAs from Amazon.

Saab2007, I got the BA35s from Amazon for £30 a pair. The 4 inch BAs for the rear are £38 a pair from Amazon.

I have now installed the 3.5" BAs in the dash and the 4" BSa in the rear shelf. Overall this has made a huge difference. To be honest, the dash speakers alone would suffice but once I had done them I wanted to complete the job and upgrade the rears too.

I am now thinking about the door speakers but don't think I'll bother as the sound is vastly improved with the upgrade as it is.

My Honda Accord (Acura TSX in the states), which has been commandeered by my wife, has an 11 speaker premium system and the Saab no longer sounds like its poor relation. I'm very pleased that with the help of this site my Saab sounds now so much better for an outlay of only £70. I also have the satisfaction of having done the job myself.

I've recently put the S35s in my dash and a set of Infinity Reference 6032si in the doors. The Bostons are amazing. The sound is so clear now. I drove my mom's TurboX and the Bose system in the sounds muffled and muddy.

The Infinitys aren't so great. They seem like they bottom out quite a bit or can't handle the frequency being sent to them. Most of the time they're good though.

Oh my god, this thread makes me want to go upgrade my speakers and I'm Deaf, lol!

But would the new speakers help with the bass?

the BAs aren't really for bass but they do make the stereo sound overall much 'richer' and more satisfying.

    Saab 9-3 2003
I have a 9-3 2003 vector with the 13 speaker system. I just replaced my AMP1 due to water damage ($526 at Saab Parts Center - Call (800) 518-7694 for Genuine Saab Porsche Parts and Accessories). I also installed BA35s in the dash and BA45s in the rear deck. Sounds worse than before. Pretty sure I flipped the +/- by accident. Hope that fixes it. Currently the center speaker is over-powering the BA35s, and I don't ever remember being able to notice the center speaker before. I suppose it could be the new amp. Someone mentioned the center speaker was tied into the same amp that drives the door speakers, which in my case is AMP1 (the one I replaced). Any thoughts?

Regarding my previous post, I did have the +/- flipped. Sounds OK now. I'm sure once I replace the blown door speakers it will all sound better. I'm still trying to figure out what to replace them with.

It's a bit tricky with the +/-. Glad to hear it was an easy fix for your problem.

Perhaps a good idea to start a new thread for the door speakers?
