Denmark to Sydney Australia - a Saab challenge ?
Check this out, Saabs driving around the world to end up in Sydney?
Dear Chairman of Saab Club NSW.
I am not quite sure to whom I should send this mail to - and it seems you mail was the best option according to your site.
From Denmark to Sydney in an old Saab! Yes, it sounds like a madmans idea. But if I told you that we currently are 3 Saab og900 from Europe driving along the old Silkroad to Mongolia - with each car having a maximum cost of 100aud.
My trusty old Saab banger died this Saterday when hitting an oncoming car and was pushed in front of a semitruck. Not a scratch on me but the Saab og900 will never feel tarmac under it´s tieres again. This leaves two other Saab og900, which I hope to join in Tehran (Iran).
So sitting in a hotel room in Croatia, waiting, waiting and waiting. I started to get some more stupid ideas. Why not drive to Singapore or Sydney in three to five years time? With cars from all of Europe but with start in Denmark.
I really havent planned anything except that I will be driving a Saab 99 or og900. I dont know if it will be BangerRally style, Rally style or just a bit of driving east.
So I was hoping you could help me sort out the rules for importing car into Australia and maybe give us a few hints. The project my never go any further than this but you never know
Best regards

There are a few people who haved tried to drive around the world. I am not sure if one would drive through Russia then northern China or through Turkey, Iran, and Pakistan. Through Syria and Iraq might not be as good. All three route probably end up in Singapore, where one would try to find a ship to Australia. For the driving experience, it would be more complete to find a ship to Broome, WA but one might have to settle for Perth or Brisbane.
