Thumbs up Belgium: BIG Saabhuy meeting 31/10/2010

This was posted by Etienne Morsa on his blog http://eurosaabmeeting2010.skynetblogs.be/

"Due to the success of 2007 event the city council of my hometown, Huy, allow me to organize a great Saab event on the historical centre of the town (usually a pedestrian area).

Hundreds of Saab are expected, there will be a Saab spares flea market area as well.

It will be biggest funniest and more crazy again this year, as the whole historic city centre will be reserved for Saab enthusiasts!

The meeting and the flea market are totally free of charges but based on first come first served (meeting will start at 9 AM, but you're welcome early, as the 250 first car will be better parked and will receive a little welcome pack)

This meeting will be held on Sunday 31st October, there no on site activity the Saturday. Nevertheless an evening meal will be organized the Saturday night (this will be obviously charged and must be booked.) Details and price will be follow shortly, but I can already tell you that payment will be make also in £ on an UK bank based account and by paypal for your easiness.

Welcome and enjoy Belgium beer and atmosphere!"

You have to love this Saab Ambassador for his style Etienne is incredible ..

I'll be driving up from Paris, spending Saturday and Sunday nights at Huy. I know there will be a UK convoy going .. Robin Morley is very much involved

I remember going on vacation with our boat when I was a kid. It took us from the Netherlands along the Meuse passing Huy and on to Dinant. I didn't think too much of those vacations at the time but it sounds like a wonderful trip now. Huy seems like an awesome place for a Saab meet. I am sure we'll see many pictures posted here on SaabWorld. Enjoy!

I've had an exchange of eMails with Etienne I had told him about SaabWorld,.
I suggested it would be good to invite Spykers to SaabHuy .. So, now I have to put something on their forum and who knows .. if VM is free he might like to tootle down with his 9-5 and enjoy some Saab atmosphere .. I'm sure he would be made very welcome and all publicity is good

    UK Convoy to Huy

As of today there are 8 cars crossing the Channel or going under it so as to do Etienne proud at Huy.

And I happen to know that one of our leading UK Saabists has managed to get his grubby hands on a brand new 9-5 to go to Belgium or is it to Interlaken ... !!!!!

Well, now I know what rests for me to do .. but I'll have to wait a few weeks. Frogs are on holidays in August and the 9-5 isn't available in France until Sept 16 ..
But I'll do my darnest for them to lend me one for that October weekend and take it to Huy ..

    Second European Saab meeting

    11/02/2010

    Final report

I want to thank you all for your presence, your enthusiasm and your beautiful Saab!

A very big thank you to city officials, Mr. Housiaux, Mayor and Mr. Dosogne, Alderman sports, as well as police who have done outstanding work to allow the rally in the city center.

The presence of official representatives of French clubs, English, Dutch, German and Luxembourg also made me a great pleasure!

Thank you to Mr. Beherman who had delivered 96 of its rally for the event, Mr. Bastin Saab Liege for providing flags and two new Saab, including a new 9-5, ... finally, five "new 9 -5 "in total!

It is precisely the variety of these models was very nice, the 96 two-stroke to 9-5, passing by Sonett, 96, 99, 900, 9000, 9-3 and 9-5 all generations.

Not forgetting the superb 9-3X of our Swiss friends of Dimini.ch , miniature Saab specialists, who made a miniature commemorative event (a few copies are still available on their website)

    263 cars!

It is of course a rough estimate given the location, apparently appreciated by all, who made only a few dozen cars have been accommodated in the space provided at the meeting.

Anyway, we were much more numerous than in 2007 and beyond the numbers, it's warm ambiance and atmosphere that prevailed on the main square of Huy all day who are Important!
The best rally car elected by the public, is a beautiful 99 Red Rob and Carol Gray, who came from England with the convoy of "South West Saab Owners Club" convoy by Robin Morley, organizer of Swedish Day UK in Somerset.

I wish to thank you all for your lovely Your Enthusiasm and Saab!
There is so many cars from two-stroke to the new 9-5 (5 in total) including Sonett II & III, 96, 99, 900, 9000, 9-3,9-5 from all generation, the atmosphere on grand-place of Huy was wonderful.
There Is So Many coaches from two-stroke to The New 9-5 (5 in total) Including Sonett II & III, 96, 99, 900, 9000, all generation from 9-3,9-5, The atmosphere is great- instead of Huy was wonderful.

I'm quite happy to meet board members of French, British, German, Dutch, and Luxembourg Saab clubs!

Thanks also to Dimini.ch Who come with a superb brand new 9-3X and made a special edition model car to commemorate this event(there is still someone available on there website)

The best car of the show elected by the public is the red 99 owned by Rob and Carol Gray from United Kingdom who come with the convoy organized by Robin Morley organizer of the Swedish day UK in lovely Somerset!
