I haven't seen this on the regular English Saab forum and news websites yet so I thought to provide some more information here. The 2007 9-5 BioPower by Rinspeed had its fair share of coverage but this 900 seems a bit more obscure.
Info from Autoblog.nl. One of their journalists spotted this and asked the owner.
The final 150 1997 Saab 900 convertibles were sent to Rinspeed in Switzerland. Half of these had manual transmissions and the other half were automatics. And, as the name suggest, all were yellow. Rinspeed made updates to the interior, wheels and chassis . The standard 2.0 engine had 185hp but Maptun provided a Stage 4 kit for this one which resulted in 300hp.
This site http://www.mellow-yellow.de shows a different engine output of 222hp so it seems Rinspeed didn't do anything to the engine. Wheels are 17" and tires 215/40-17. The site has a review in German so check it out if you master the language. It lists a price of DM 74,000. I don't know how that converts to dollars or euros.
This site shows pictures of different color wheels and an engine output of 185hp. The owner writes 210 of these were made by Rinspeed.
Available information seems limited so perhaps we'll get some feedback from owners or someone who knows more about these Mellow Yellow editions by Rinspeed. Are these collector items and how many are still on the road?

How many 1999 Mellowyellow saab 93 convertibles were built ?

as far as I know, only 1997 900II were labled with "Mellow Yellow" by Rinspeed - I've heard a number if 1000
later, 9.3 was delivered in yellow, but without the lable - don't know how much.

I just sort of stumbled onto this thread while looking for something else, but I have something to contribute. The Monte Carlo Yellow '97 900 convertible was built in very limited numbers, 350 cars were built for global distribution of which 32 were sold here in the US (as part of the 50th Anniversary model line-up.) After that ('98-'00,) the color was sold largely as a special order only on convertibles, (also there were 2 '99 model year Viggen coupes produced for the Viggen Flight Academy driving school) with the final appearance being on the 2000 model year 9-3 Viggen models sold in the US of which there were 62 cars produced (6 of which were convertibles.)

When I was in Saab School in Terytown NY years ago I watched a 1998 9-3 - yes 9-3 in MCY with NO VIN get hauled off to be crushed. It was a little sad. I have an old cell picture somewhere of it.
