    Front torque arm - 4-cylinder petrol/gasoline - Saab 9-5

    Instructions from the WIS:

    Front torque arm

    To remove

    1. Raise the car.

    2. Remove the screws to the torque arm.

    3. Loosen the screws on the gearbox bracket so the torque arm's rear screw can be removed.

    4. Remove the torque arm.

    To fit

    1. Fit the torque arm with through bolts.

    2. Tighten the gearbox bracket screws.

    Tightening torque up to and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514478: 47 Nm (35 lbf ft)
    Tightening torque from and including Vehicle Identification Number 73514479: 38 Nm (28 lbf ft)

    3. Tighten the through bolt to the subframe.
    Tightening torque: 90 Nm + 90° (66 lbf ft + 90°)

    4. Tighten the bolt holding the torque arm to the bracket.
    Tightening torque: 70 Nm + 90° (52 lbf ft + 90°)

    This is also often referred to an engine mount.

    The rubber on the torque arm of my 2005 9-5 with 68K miles looked pretty bad. This is very easy to access and replace and I didn't have to do step 3 from the WIS instructions.

    The old torque arm. The was a lot of play between the rubber and metal and the rubber appeared to be dried out.
