The Nissan Xterra is an SUV that's kind of like a cheaper Pathfinder. I think it was introduced to the US market in the late 90s, maybe the early 2000s.

The Xterra is based on the Nissan Frontier / Navara pickup truck and is one of the few remaining real SUVs left. It is only sold in North America. Nissan can be a bit confusing with their models in different markets. They still sell the old Pathfinder in Europe while they sell a different model with the same name in the US.
It's too bad the US never got the Patrol which seems to be a highly regarded large offroader like the Toyota Landcruiser. Instead, they have the Armada in North America which is probably too big for some serious offroading. I have always been a fan of most Nissans and had a few in the past.

Thanks guys for the info. I have often wondered why manufacturers don't have world-wide names - especially for the large players like Nissan. VW had different names for basically the same cars Europe cf US cf South America so it;s nothing new but still confusing! Our little Mitsubishi is called the Pinin (Pininfarina did the design work) quite small but very handy out of town.

It's been suggested to me that I sell my 1999 9-3SE. If so, I could be out of the Saab family. Oh! It might not be the end to a near life long string of owning Saabs, though.
Not sure what to do. I know for certain that I won't sell it in the next 6 months. Just dusted the dashboard with a rag today and cleaned the windows.

Any reason behind this suggestion? And if you emptied the ashtrays - that's 12 more months of ownership!

It wasn't one of your BMW friends that suggested that, right?? Perhaps he or she is just jealous.
This is just brilliant. Only in America, probably impossible to get this on the road and insured in Europe.

Wulf - I agree very nice. As for insurance there are many cars being driven on the road WITHOUT any insurance (and they look really good once they are crushed!)
