All good things must come to an end, unfortunately.
I just got an email about the new Mobil 1 website. Gone is the weekly quiz where there were prizes. Of course, I never won. However, I did win a monthly prize for submitting a photo of my car and writing why I like Mobil 1. I got 4 cases of Mobil 1 (24 quarts). I still haven't use it yet.

I am renting a Chevrolet Cruze now. There is a inner trunk handle on the right, just like in Saabs since the Classic 900 and maybe earlier. GM cars didn't have this before. Just a theory but I think Saab lives on in a little way. Cruze steering is nothing like a Saab nor is the dash as ergonomic, though.

With the whole VW diesel thing going on right now, it should be interesting to see what happens.
Not quite 4 months of ownership with my Golf SportWagen and this happens.
That withholding, I've been loving the car. Averaging nearly 47 mpg without even trying, though the car computer reads about 50 mpg. Only issue is a minor AC problem that will be addressed at my 10,000 service by the dealer in a couple weeks.

Hi, just read your message but have a question. What is A Golf SportWagen? Is it a re-labelled estate or is it a USA only model?
When I had a Scirocco back in the 80's the model was not sold in all areas and some models were called by different names (Golf / Rabbit etc)

Golf SportWagen is a Golf Estate.
Here in the US it was recently discovered that VW cheated federal emission tests on all of their 4-cylinder diesels produced between 2009 and 2015. No one knows exactly what's going to happen yet, but as it currently stands, VW could face up to $18 billion in fines, plus criminal charges.
To put that into context, GM just got fined $900 million (so about 5% of what VW could face) for an issue they had that caused car steering wheels to lock up on rare occasion and deactivate the airbag while the car was being driving that resulted in ~169 deaths. So this seems like a huge deal so far.

Thanks for taking the time to reply
We had a couple of Mk3 Golf estates both diesel the first being the normal non turbo - very frugal but very slow but good cruising. The second was the Tdi (90 bhp) much better all-round with better mid-range acceleration then the GTi of the time (but not the top speed!).
BTW - I am getting almost the same full consumption (43mpg at the pump not on the display) with my TTid4 Aero! but these are country roads and longer trips not city traffic.
Enjoy.

Winterkorn looks so sad and seems to be very sorry.... Wir haben es nicht gewußt...!
He doesn't seem to be hurting though with a nice payoff. http://www.wsj.com/articles/former-volkswagen-chief-martin-winterkorn-could-receive-60m-payoff-1443103501
