- Saab-less
Just a quick update. I check in, but not very frequently. Life has gotten really busy and as of two weeks ago, I am officially Saab-less. I sold the '73 96 to a guy from New Jersey after having it on craigslist for about a week. He paid basically what I was asking and made the ~6 hour trip to come round her up and trailer it away. A bit sad to see her go, but truth was that it was really not much more than a parts car and I no longer had the desire to invest time and money into it. Sounds like she'll be used for parts, but it was bound to happen.
In other news I'm still waiting to hear what will happen to my '15 Volkswagen Golf Sportwagen because of the diesel emissions issue. I'm not too concerned as I've put nearly 22,000 trouble free miles on it in a couple weeks less than a year. The lifetime fuel efficiency is right around 44.5 mpg as well. It's not the fastest car and it doesn't have the most personality, but it's useful, get's great gas mileage, and has a well appointed interior that's quite and pleasant for the miles it soaks up.
I've also picked up a '13 Triumph Street Triple. I still have my '77 Honda CB550 that has become a project for when my other project (house) isn't being worked on. Nothing major going on there, but an engine rebuild and complete repaint. I still need to find a reasonably priced seat pan as well, but the whole cafe racer fad seems to have raised the prices quite a bit. I've already put about 1,600 miles on the Triumph this season, which considering the cold and wet weather of upstate New York, is a lot of miles for a motorcycle.
I still send out stickers here and there, though the number of envelopes I get in the mail sure has decreased.
Hope all is well with everyone.Free SaabWorld Stickers

Random thought: Remember European Delivery?
There was one person who got a 9-3 with black door handles, which was standard in Sweden, but was supposed to have body colored door handles, which was how U.S. cars were equipped. What happened? Were they changed under warranty in the U.S. or left as it was? I would be inclined to leave it black.

That was my 9-3 with the black door handles. ANA in Trollhattan offered a loaner 9-3 while they would correct the problem locally but I wanted to see Sweden and Norway in my new Saab. After it arrived in the US, they ordered the body-colored door handles and the dealer replaced them. Took a few months though to get them in but was all good in the end.
Thinking of European Delivery.. I picked up my 9-3 in Trollhattan on May 14, 2006 so that is 3 days short of 10 years ago! http://saabworld.net/showthread.php?...ll=1#post67108
When I visited Sweden last year, I stayed at Ronnum Manor for 2 nights. Great memories.
Shazam, nice to read you're still visiting here and you're keeping yourself busy.

Nothing changed in the last 10 years. Ronnum Manor is my favorite hotel near Trolltown. And this time, they were actually open..

I once saw a Spyker C8 at the dealer. I think that was the 3rd car they would sell. Sales of the car was probably fewer than the Saab 9-4X. I wonder how are parts availability?

Random thought...
Once someone told me (when Saab was still making cars, maybe around 2010), "I never heard of that car company"! I was shocked.
A few days, someone saw my Saab key chain. "My father had a Saab. They stopped making cars.". I was amazed!
If you drove a Saab or have a family member who did, you're now a friend of mine!

I feel the same way, Dave. I've also picked up the Saab-virus from my father. He drove Saabs for decades.
