European union willing to have more restrictive regulations for the future, objectives remains to ban the diesels at least, and having petrol engines with 35% less emissions than today cars.
so in my country, the taxes are for a 9-5 2.0 150hp around 600 bucks per year in the mean time a corrupted diesel pay less than I do ...so frustrating and not fair at all
it's with my strength money amount, very difficult to anticipate the future, my goal is to buy a 9-3 vert in good shape and keeping this one for summer.

Volvo would be high on my list if I would go back to a car or crossover. I rented a V40 diesel in southern Spain a few weeks ago and enjoyed it. Not a sporty car or very fun to drive but good design and great fuel mileage. An XC60 or XC90 with European Delivery would be a great experience after Saab.

Yes the D2 V40 is quite a nice little car for shopping. But we use the 9-5s for the real journeys!
XC 60 is almost suitable for a replacement - just have to wait for a petrol version.
Liked the Ford Edge in Montana - petrol and auto - never could work-out the fuel consumption but it was a holiday rental!
managed almost
2,000 miles in a week!

I occasionally think "what is a good replacement for a Saab?". I've owned the Saab 9-3 (9-3SS), which is similar to the 9-3/900 (I also had that), which is similar to the classic 900 (I also had that). Now that Saab is gone, I have a BMW 320i that I bought in 2013.
Recently, I drove a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta (new generation, 2019 is the first year). There were slight similarities to a Saab. So for me, that is another data point. A Jetta as well as a 320i can fill in for a Saab. Not quite the way I like it but closer than a horse or donkey.
The Jetta felt a little light weight compared to a 9-3 but similar to my old 1999 9-3. It's not a hatchback. It comes in a manual but the rental car was automatic. The rental car had fewer than 1300 miles, an essentially new car. The Jetta is made in Mexico and not sold in Germany. To me, it doesn't drive like a sports sedan but almost does.

The Geneva auto show has been cancelled due to Covid-19. That same show, albeit several years ago, was the last gallant stand of Saab. Saab showed the Phoenix. Saab was developing a new 9-3, rumored to be called the 900. Soon afterwards, Saab, the car company, collapsed. Poor Saab. For me, it was the end of having a car company that I really liked their products. Their design philosophy was similar to my tastes. Now, there are cars that aren't bad but are not like the Saab 900 and 9-3.

Any Saab owners in Europe that like to meeting up?
Any Saab owners in Europe that like to meet up?
So i'm driving from the Netherlands to Bulgaria in a week.
I'll be passing through
-Germany
-Austria (or maybe Czech republic if the borders are an issue)
-Slovenia or Hungary (again depending on the borders)
-Serbia or Romania
-Sofia, Bulgaria.
I'm doing this is my 1999 95 estate with over 500.000km on the clock!
The 95 estates has been turned into "camper" so i always have a place to sleep in the back.
I've noticed a lot of friendly people in the Saab community (here and on the forums) and was wondering if anyone in one of the countries would like to have a (social distancing) meetup?
Really curious about all the Saab stories you people have and I'm just really exited to see other people's Saab's!
My route is not set in stone, i just want to travel to Bulgaria in about 7-10 days and don't mind if i take the long way there. (Car is on LPG anyways).
Have a great weekend guys!
p.s. if you have any recommendations in terms of beautiful places to see and visit, i'd love to hear them as well.
p.p.s pic of my car and rough outlay of my planned route.
