B&G Lowering Springs + Yellow Konis...your 2 cents

    Hey Guys,

So my Koni Yellows arrived today and the B&G springs came last week. I get them on next weekend and I'm pretty excited...really excited.

The concern I have is in regards to the Koni's adjustability. I want a comfortable ride while also taking advantage of the Koni abilities.

How should I set them? Firmest all a round? Softest all around? In the middle? Firmer up front while softer in the back?

Let me know what you think please

So the B&G springs and Koni yellows are installed. I preached the rear springs on the higher level and set the konis to 60% firm (both front and rear).

The ride is awesome but I'm not to impressed with the drop. It really doesn't seemed to be any lower... Seems to be only mm lower. It was supposed to be a 1.6" drop, to think I was worried about it being too low.

I'm told the springs will settle, so we'll wait and see.

I'll have before and after pictures up soon.

1.6" sounds like a rather significant drop. It seems odd they have to settle that much. But who knows, I don't know anything about lowering and modifying suspensions.

According to my measurements (not perfect) they seem to be at the same height (THE SAME)...I'm really disappointed...hopefully not for long (I'm really hoping they settle...at least a little bit)

Does your car have the Sport package (making it an Aero) or is it the regular 2.3T? The Sport suspension already is pretty low. I am not familiar with the B&G springs but does the 1.6" drop apply to the regular or sport suspension?

I think it's the sport suspension but not sure. You're right about the 1.6" drop being for the regular suspension, but there should still be over an inch drop. No?

Anyways, I was expecting more and was kinda upset yesterday but feeling better now. I'll post the pix up soon.

The Sport package for 2006 (North America) included the sport suspension, sport seats and silver dash/door trims. The sport suspension is about 1"/2.5 cm lower than the regular suspension.

OH! I thought the sport suspension was only 10mm lower...this explains a lot. I thought that because many sites (including GS) say "lowers 35mm, aero 25mm" (vogtlands).

Thanks Wulf!...for the info and listening to me vent. Seems to be settling...I'll measure again tomorrow.

You're right.. I mixed up metric and imperial..

The sport suspension is 10mm lower, not 1".

The more focused, sporty dynamics of the sport chassis are also improved. It retains a 10mm lower ride height than the standard chassis

I am not sure why you would want to lower an Aero? You need to redo the rear suspension alignment when you do.
