Saab 900 convertible purchase advice

The only advice I can give here guys is the same as Jetman (from SC) gave. Buy the best that you can possibly afford and then a bit more if you find an absolute beaut. I did and I've never regretted it.

But $5000 for a c900 that has been sitting outside in the snow is, in my opinion, unreasonable. I'd say buy the best you can afford but play the market a bit to make sure it's a reasonable price for what you're getting. I overpaid for mine, and uncovering/fixing all its pre-existing issues made me wish I'd had the opportunity to do it differently.

It doesn't seem to be too far out of line with some offerings on Saabnet. Unless those are priced too high to begin with. In fact, $5K doesn't seem bad at all for a low-mileage car like that.

I never really cared for black cars but I must say it looks good on the 900 with the tan interior and those wheels.

I never cared for black either. They are an absolute pain to keep clean and show every single mark and blemish. Those vert prices quoted are close if not the same to good verts in the UK. Mine you, I wouldn't by one for that price that didn't have it's correct three piece tonneau with it. Classic verts in the UK are now priced higher than the later NG vert.

I just don't agree with the emphasis on mileage. To me, a classic 900 is worth more if it's been well cared-for, as long as the mileage is under 150,000.

Given that one acquires the vert, what's the best product to wash and care for the hood?

I normally wash my car with normal car shampoo and then occasionally do the roof as well, then hose the lot off. Maybe, say once a year use a Renovo proofer. Renovo Convertible Carbriolet Hood Care
