Saab model/platform/chassis names and numbers
There currently is Saab 9-5 Gen1 and Gen2. Are these names correct? I don't like OG and NG because what would you name the next 9-5? What if Saab decides to rename the 9-5 Gen2 mid-model 95 and we have to change the forum name to "Saab 9-5 Gen2 / 95" or "Saab 9-5 / 95".
What about the 9-3. Is the current 9-3 similar to Gen1? Or is it 9-3 Gen2 because the 9-3 name was partly used on the previous model? What is the next 9-3 going to be called? 93?
It's much easier with car makers like BMW where you have x-series (Exx). For example 5-series (E28).
The Saab WIS and EPC show this:
900 (c900)
9000
9400 (NG900/9-3)
9440 (9-3ss)
9600 (9-5)
But what numbers are the 9-5 Gen2 and 9-4?
I am trying to figure this out for search engine optimization. It's not easy thinking ahead 10 years with this quirky Swedish automaker...!
