    Saab 9-3 ARC Convertible 2005

    Changed battery and now car won't start!?!

    I have a 2005 Saab 9-3 ARC Convertible and today I went to Sears to have the battery replaced. When they got done the engine would not turn over but all other electrical systems seem to work. Lights, power windows, etc. Does anyone know if there's something that needs to be reset? I had it towed to Sarasota to the Saab dealership. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    it could be than the new battery is out of service or no amp-charge.

    The electronics would run then if the battery had no charge.

    My guess is the starter could have been fried if JOhn accidentally tried to start the car for too long (let the starter click away) even though the battery was dead.

    the ECU prevent these issues..... if there is not enough battery charge the relay starter is not activated...what I think by the logic of electronics safety.

    Car won't starrt after battery change...

    Well at the end of the day the dealer is stumped as well. They tried pulling the fuse to reset the computer, draining the capacitors which maintain sensor data by connecting the battery cables together, etc. These I find are the usual tricks they perform in such instances. What we now suspect is when Sears installed the battery they accidentally put it in in reverse polarity and fried the computer! If so, I'm in for a major repair job!! At any rate, the car will spend the weekend at the dealership and me with a rental! More to follow Monday.

    put it in in reverse polarity? that is almost impossible;
    - wires battery are to short,
    -the cone diameter terminals are different from the negative terminal is smaller than positive terminal and no match the connection.
    -the battery box is too small and only can be connected in the right way.
    see the picture for more detailing explanation:
