Clicking sound from dashboard - right mixed air stepping motor

I guess some owners have had a clicking sound from the dasboard, and one of the reasons is a bad "mixed air stepping motor". This is the motor which regulates the temperature, and sometimes it can start making a clicking noise. In my car it is still doing it's job, so I have left it for a couple of years without repairing.
While I was trying to fix the heater blower, I filmed the (right) mixed air stepping motor during operation. So if you have a clicking sound, this could be the reason.

It could also be a problem with the resirc valve motor, which is also part of the clip. This is good in my car, so no details about this from me.

I changed the bad part, and I took a picture with the old and new part together. I did this because the new part is a bit different.
The part number is 9180204, and it is a direct swap, no fuzz. The clicking disappeared.

I hope you can help me. I too have a loud clicking sound but only when I turn on the re-circulation on or off. it lasts for 10 to 15 seconds and then stops. Is this the same issue or something completely different.
I am at a loss to explain it or know what to do. Regards Thor.

Yes, its most likely the re-circulation motor, fairly common fault on the 9-3 sport sedan.

Thank you for your help. Now to decide to do it myself or find somebody to do it for me. I have done a bit more reach and you would appear to be correct in that yes it does seem a common fault. Maybe be a bit or poor design/engineering on somebodies part there. i love the car it drives very well but this and a few other little things just annoy me. I have also the covering on the temperature control buttons peeling off. !! Many thanks again for the help. Thor
