Has anyone done a similar tutorial for manual transmissions? The shifter surround looks completely different, at least at first glance.

The WIS shows this for the manual transmission that is different from the automatic instructions.

    1. Lift up the gear lever gaiter.

Frank, I just sent (I hope, anyways) a question about my LH side stepper motor having severed wires. This above action looks like it will get me in the general area of the damaged wire harness. Never having attempted this, is there more to getting more/better access to the (for lack of a better term) the ACC box? watergate54

Thank you Nordwulf for the WIS console removal, but I need a bit more info to remove the handbrake cover on a 2008 Saab 9-5. I've pulled the cover up to the end of the lever, but the entire unit won't release. There is a small rectangular plastic 'peg' that appears to be the problem, but I can't figure out how to remove it. Thank you.

I finally got the gaiter off using a box knife to split it. New gaiter is in place but won't stay because I broke the clip in front. Now I have to remove the console. The only thing I can't get off is the back seat vents at the end of the console. I've removed the single screw, but the housing won't come off.
